| Being the son of a decorated police officer, Hajime Shidou seemed to be destined to follow in his father's footsteps. It wasn't what he wanted at first but he ultimately became a Police Officer and later, after getting married, made Detective. Through a tragic series of events, his wife Miki was died shortly after their daughter Mayumi was born and so he was left to raise her alone. After her death and the rumors that came up, the family moved from Port Island to Okina trying to find a way to move on. However, he still feels a tremendous sense of guilt and responsibility for his wife’s death, along with knowing that he won't ever find true justice. He lives in Okina currently and commutes to work at the Sumaru Police Department. His daughter is still very young so he balances taking care of her and work, all without the help of his family. He is very dedicated to his work but due to bearing the burden of the tragedy tends to be overly emotional or involved in cases, especially ones that involve young families.
