• Masumi is transgender. This is not common knowledge.
• Masumi possesses a high sensitive nervous system, which is both a gift and a curse. She naturally picks up on small details which other people tend to miss, and is highly attuned to the feelings of other people. At the same time, she is easily exhausted and overwhelmed by excessive stimulation, particularly prolonged social interaction. Regular periods of solitude are necessary to her mental and emotional well-being.
• Physical contact of virtually any kind, even a simple tap on the shoulder, is extremely distressing to her. Unexpected contact is especially bad, frequently triggering a full flight-or-fight reaction.
• Because of her diverse experiences following her Awakening, Masumi possesses a rather eclectic array of knowledge and skills. She is not always terribly proud of how she developed them.

Profile: Originally from the small town of Inaba, Masumi Hayashi has finally begun to overcome the effects of a lifetime of verbal abuse and betrayal of trust from family, peers, and community alike, with the unfailing aid of those that have stood with her for the last two, turbulent years. While she remains a quiet and introspective young woman who is slow to trust, Masumi seems to have at long last found the inner strength and peace she was always looking for, allowing her to truly free herself from the judgement and expectations of both family and society -- and in the process, finally achieve a measure of true happiness as she begins to find and pursue what she truly desires in life. Her past has not left her without scars, however. Masumi is often quick to assume people are insulting her, occassionally revealing a surprisingly sharp temper and ability to hold a grudge, and her tendancy to lose herself in her own world for weeks or even months at a time mean that she is not always the most dependable of friends. On the whole a deeply spiritual person, Masumi is captivated by the idea of magic in all of its forms, and remains a passionate student of mysticism and the occult, and an explorer of the world of Personas and Shadows, in her ongoing quest to better understand both herself and the world around her.

  • Thora Kobayashi:</b> When they first met in what seems like a different lifetime, Masumi quietly looked down on Thora for her rough, thuggish exterior, even while she was rather frightened of her. With time and prolonged exposure, they gradually came to an understanding of each other, and Thora was probably the single greatest actor in saving Masumi from her subsequent Possession. Anymore, they're rather good friends, and Masumi deeply admires Thora's strength and determination and power.
