Profile and Skills

Kasumi is a first year at Gekkoukan High School. She is pretty quiet and reserved most of the time. Lately though, she has been trying to socialize more, especially with starting at a new school. Her father owns a bookstore in Port Island and Kasumi spends the majority of her time there, either helping her father or just reading or writing. People are generally friendly to her but she tends to close up if people try to get too close. She has a good reason for this though. The secrets and tragedies she holds in her heart leave many people wondering exactly what is going on in her mind. History

Kasumi is the daughter of Port Island bookstore owner, Fumihiko. She has lived with just her father for most of her life. Growing up she was an extremely social and happy child. Her talents as a writer were recognized even at a young age. However, when she was 8 years old, she witnessed a horrible crime. It caused her to withdraw and she was afraid to talk to other people. For awhile, she did not actually remember what she saw but when she was 13 she had a flashback to the incident. She remembered everything that she saw. Feeling extremely guilty about it she retreated even further into her reading and writing. Now it is 3 years later. Kasumi is about to start as a first-year at Gekkoukan High School. She is trying to get to know others and leave her comfort zone. However, her greatest underlying fear is that people will somehow find out about her past. The secret that she holds is even hidden from her own family and her father even. She hates hiding the truth but she cannot bear to see what would happen if he found out. Therefore, even though she may seem like she is sociable on the outside, she has a secret that is keeping her from really letting others see who she is.

Personality

Kasumi is fairly awkward in social situations until she gets to know the person better. There have been instances, especially recently, where socializing hasn't been as hard for her but generally it is. The fear of people getting too close is always in her mind no matter what. Her love of writing and reading keeps her occupied a lot of the time at the bookstore. She has started reading about the occult lately to get more information for her writing. She has recently come across a forum online. It is a bit 'darker' and filled with rumors and such but it really interests her. Even though most of the stuff seems to be completely false she wonders about the validity of certain things.

Persona

"Thou art I, I am thou!" Once awakened, Kasumi's persona will be Marlinchen. Marlinchen is a beautiful woman. She is wearing a beautiful long white dress. Around her head is a flower headband and she is wearing red shoes. She has pale skin and red lips. Marlinchen comes from the story of the Juniper Tree. The story goes that a woman wanted a child as red as blood and as white as snow. She finally gives birth to a boy and dies shortly after his birth. The father remarries and they have a child together and name her Marlinchen (some versions call her Marjory). The mother loves her daughter dearly but does not want the son to get the family fortune. She kills him and makes Marlinchen think that it is her fault. Through a twisted series of events the stepmother is killed and the son is 'rebirthed.' Resonance: Anyone who can sense resonances will probably feel a bit of innocence but a very deep sense of inner strength. For smells they will get the scent of apples or perhaps juniper berries... maybe a bit of both. Sound-wise her resonance would portray strongly the sound of birds singing a beautiful happy tune.

(Akatsuki Enda, Maki Sonomura) Secrets We Hide - IC Time: March 31st, 2010. - Kasumi shares a small part of her past with Yoh and has a flashback that makes her collapse and leaves her friends worried about her. (Okina Fountains: Yoh Yamagatani, Keitaro Nagasaku) Bookstore Customer - IC Time: April 1st, 2010 - Kasumi is working at her dad's shop and Himeru visits. (Books for Less: Himeru Namikawa) An Apology - IC Time: April 2nd, 2010. - Kasumi asks Yoh to meet her to apologize about the other evening. She also meets Kaede. A lot of questions are answered for her and she realizes what she does with her new found knowledge is completely in her hands. (Books for Less: Shinjiro Aragaki) Cut Scenes Visit to the Shrine - IC Time March 22nd, 2010 - Kasumi visits the Shrine late at night to do some writing and is visited by someone from her past. Down the Rabbit Hole - IC Time April 7th, 2010 - After playing the Persona game Kasumi thinks about the events of the evening and tries to remember exactly what happened. 0 - THE FOOL: I - THE MAGICIAN: II - THE HIGH PRIESTESS: Maki Sonomura: Kasumi has ran into her a couple times as Maki. She also met Aki and Mai through Yoh at the Bake sale and later ran into Aki the night that she was in the Dark Hour. She is still unaware that Maki, Aki and Mai are the same person but even if she knew she probably would not understand it. After the Dark Hour encounter though she is aware that there is an uncanny resemblance between Aki and Maki. Shiori Hibiki: They have only met twice but Shiori was there during Kasumi's first Dark Hour experience so she is on Kasumi's list of people to talk to more. She answered some of her questions and Kasumi was thankful. Masumi Hayashi: Even though they have only met one time, she is listed here because Kasumi felt a connection to her that cannot be explained. They had a very intriguing conversation about the occult. She is someone that Kasumi would like to talk in more depth too. X - THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE: XI - STRENGTH: Yoh Yamagatani: Kasumi met Yoh randomly late one night at the Paulownia Mall and they played a blackjack game with Kanon in which he beat them both. Currently he is one of Kasumi's only good friends. There is still much she does not know about him. He did give her chocolate on White Day which surprised her. She felt bad though that she had nothing in return for him. It seems like no matter where she goes, he is there also. Kind of weird but nice at the same time. After numerous meetings Kasumi is building a connection with him that she cannot understand. She doesn't know how he feels about her yet but at the very least she considers him a good friend. He knows more about her past than anyone else and she feels more comfortable confiding in him than anyone else. XII - THE HANGED MAN: XIII - DEATH: XIV- TEMPERANCE: Hitoshi Taniguchi: After a brief encounter at the Strip Mall, Kasumi found she has a couple of things in common with Hitoshi, books and writing. He is much more dedicated to his writing than she will ever be and that is something that she greatly admires. XV - THE DEVIL: XVI - THE TOWER: Himeru Namikawa: A second-year Gekkoukan student that Kasumi has started forming a friendship with. She was at her birthday party. Himeru calls her kōhai. Kasumi wasn't sure about her at first but after a few meetings and talking to her one on one she realizes that they will probably be friends. Himeru possesses wisdom that she finds very admirable. Also Himeru was the first person who actually answered her questions about the rumors... even if it was reluctantly. Himeru pretty much turned Kasumi's world upside down with one conversation. She was also there the night Kasumi played the Persona game and the first time she ended up in the Dark Hour. Kasumi's level of trust for her is pretty high. XVII - THE STAR: Hinata Itoh: Kasumi had run into this Itoh sister a couple times at the Lucky 7. She likes her enthusiasm and energy. Hinata is a second-year at Gekkoukan and she calls her senpai. XVIII - THE MOON: Keitaro Nagasaku: So far he is the only other first year Gekkoukan student Kasumi has met. They have met quite a few times socially and Kasumi has formed a pretty good relationship with him. One night she opened up to him by showing him a picture of her family before the tragedy. Their relationship got a better because of this. He doesn't say a whole lot but Kasumi and him seem to share a part of their past that involves deep tragedies. XIX -THE SUN: XX - JUDGEMENT: Kanon Itoh: While Kanon is older than Kasumi she still likes her, especially her tattoos. Kasumi invited her to her birthday celebration even though they had only met one time previously. Kasumi has run into her a few times since and she was there the night Kasumi played the Persona game. She looks up to Kanon and admires her for some reason. Nagisa Renge: Strega member. Ran into on Shirakawa Blvd. She is bad news! That is all Kasumi knows.
