| Kaoru Saga was once a promising Japanese public prosecutor, sending many criminals to jail with the assistance of his partner, Miki Asai. However, one day he dug too deeply, investigating the Taiwanese Mafia for connections to the top leaders of Japan. That investigation cost him both his partner and his position. Now he works to become an instrument of vengeance against those he knows are responsible for his partner's death, scorning the law that failed him in the past. These days, the world only knows of him by the name 'Baofu', the Chinese word for 'Revenge'. Using his skills at wiretapping and information-gathering, he works tirelessly through the Darkside of Sumaru, an underground rumor website and information network, to bring down the head of the New World Order, Tatsuzou Sudou. | The name "Baofu" is half urban legend, half bogeyman. Few know his face, or if he's even a man, their only interactions being through the medium of the internet or coming across a rumor that supposedly originated from him... Those among the ranks of Darkside have a somewhat closer relationship with him, with quite a few having met him in person once or twice. (If you've seen Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, think of the Laughing Man.)
Baofu also has a public persona (under the name of Hiroshi Satou) that runs a perfectly legitimate business as a security consultant and bug-hunter, which is where the nickname of Tap Buster originates from. The fact that he uses this business as a cover for installing his own bugs and backdoors is carefully hidden from everyone involved. |
